Richard J. DeAngelis, M.D.
A Brief Biography
Dr. Richard J. DeAngelis, the second born of five boys, was raised in Morgantown, West Virginia and after completing his training, moved to Anderson, SC with his wife and growing family in 1991 to begin his practice.
Dr. DeAngelis is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology and also holds a sub- specialty certification in Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery as a Founding Member of the American Board of Medical Specialties in Mohs Micrographic Surgery.
Dr. DeAngelis deems it an honor and a privilege to have befriended and learned from so many patients since he began his private practice in 1991. He will remain forever indebted to them for the many ways that they have contributed to his life, both personally and professionally.
However, after over 30 years of practice, Dr. DeAngelis is beginning his transition toward eventual retirement planned for June of 2024. The practice is embarking upon the search for his uniquely qualified successor who will serve as the primary Mohs Micrographic Surgeon for the Skin Cancer Centre commensing in July of 2023.

Daren Fomin, DO
Dr. Fomin is board-certified in Dermatology and Micrographic Dermatologic Surgery (Mohs Surgery). He grew up in Hawaii and Germay in a military family before attending the University of Arkansas where he competed in mixed martial arts. He graduated from Campbell University School of Osteopathic Medicine (cum Laude) before being accepted to the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center Dermatology Residency in Washington, DC, where he served as chief resident in his final year there.
He continued to serve the nation with the US Army, attaining the rank of Major and becoming chief of Dermatology, Dermatologic Surgery, and Laser Surgery at Irwin Army Community Hospital at Ft. Riley, KS, as well as serving as a chair member of the Cancer Committee and Officer-in- Charge of all medical specialty departments. He has served as a professor of Dermatology and Tropical Medicine for Kansas State University Physician Assistant School, the Army's Physician Assistant School, and the JFK Special Warfare School.
Dr. Fomin completed his formal dermatology and surgical training in June of 2021 and since then has proven to be a most effective and respected educator/instructor to many pre-med students, medical students, physician assistant’s, medical and dermatology residents and has been a featured lecturer at national dermatology conferences.
As of January of 2025, he will have faithfully fulfilled 12 years of service with the US Army and will begin in earnest civilian service. This experience has no doubt left him well prepared to take over the surgical practice of the Skin Cancer Centre as Dr. DeAngelis steps into a more supportive role during his transition toward full retirement.
Dr. Fomin's primary professional passion and expertise is in the surgical treatment of skin cancer, but also has extensive experience in cosmetic medicine and laser surgery. He is most pleased to carry on the legacy of Dr. DeAngelis at the Skin Cancer Centre and expand upon this well-established foundation and their excellent reputation.
When not treating skin cancer, he can be found on any number of outdoor adventures with his wife and children. Dr. Fomin also enjoys powerlifting and serving in his local church.

Curriculum Vitae Daren Fomin, DO
April Ross, PA-C
April S. Ross, PA-C, joined the staff of the Skin Cancer Centre in November 2011 and has been a vital asset since this time. April earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Medicine with a Major in Biology and Minor in Chemistry from Southern Wesleyan University. She then completed her Master's degree in Medicine from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee and has been a certified Physician Assistant since 2005. While in graduate school, April was PA student of the year for the state of Tennessee.
April practiced in Family Medicine for 7 years in Seneca, SC prior to joining the Skin Cancer Centre. During this time, she was responsible for treating a broad range of disease processes encountered in a typical family practice. However, she devoted most of her time to screening and treating the dermatological conditions of many of her patients in the multi-specialty practice. Joining the professional team of the Skin Cancer Centre is a realization of April’s dream to further specialize, and to become an expert in the management of patients predisposed to the development of pre-cancers and cancers of the skin.
April is married and has two children, a son Samuel and daughter, Baker. She enjoys spending time with her family and working on their family farm.
Ashlyn Platts, PA-C
Ashlyn Platts, PA-C, joined the staff of the Skin Cancer Centre in May of 2016. Ashlyn graduated from the University of South Carolina in Aiken in 2007, and then obtained her Master of Science in Medicine-- Physician Assistant from the Medical College of GA in 2012.
She worked with another board certified dermatologist in the state of Georgia full time prior to joining us at the Skin Cancer Centre. She came to us with a solid foundation from her experience working in general dermatology and has an outstanding reputation where she practiced for three years in the state of Georgia.
Her move to our practice in the upstate allowed her to expand her experience in the early detection and advanced treatment of skin cancer. When she is not in the office, she is likely enjoying her time with her husband Daniel and young son Wolfram.
Ryan Grove, RTT
Ryan joined our practice in March of 2021. Prior to joining the Skin Cancer Centre, he worked for over 15 years as a Radiation Therapist and has supervised teams that installed and implemented the machinery and provided treatment during that time as well.
Ryan has proven to be an invaluable asset to our team, and resides in Greenville, SC with his family.
Eduarda DeAngelis, Licensed Aesthetician
Eduarda DeAngelis, born and raised in the picturesqe town of Brumadinho, Brazil, has had a remarkable journey: one that has led her from the world of engineering to her true passion of working with skincare. Eduarda met her husband, Darin DeAngelis, in 2018, which led her to immigrate from Brazil to the United States in 2020. Holding a Bachelor's degree in Engineering from the prestigious Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil, she initially pursued a career in a field known for its precision and problem-solving.
However, it was her experience working at the Skin Cancer Centre, starting in March of 2022 as a receptionist, that made her realize she could transform her lifetime hobby of skincare into a profession. In 2023, Eduarda graduated with honors from the Greenville Technical College Esthetics program, marking a significant milestone in her pursuit of a career as an esthetician. Eduarda's interests within the field of esthetics include rejuvenation and anti-aging procedures, hyperpigmentation treatments, acne control protocols, and skin cancer prevention counseling.
She is a caring professional committed to helping her clients achieve optimal skin health.As Eduarda DeAngelis begins thriving in her new esthetics career, her journey stands as an inspiring example of following one's passion, no matter where life may lead.
